From Pledges to Pathways Report: Australia’s Leadership Opportunity
New research from Canbury Australia, commissioned by the UN Global Compact Network Australia, finds that, despite Australia’s potential to be a leader in the global transition to a net zero and nature positive economy, ambition and capital alignment remain uneven. Only 12% of companies have validated targets, 25% report fully on Scope 3 emissions, and very few disclose credible transition finance pathways.
The report sets out a roadmap for progress, calling for validated 1.5°C-aligned 2030 targets, stronger Scope 3 integration, disclosure of capital expenditure and asset alignment, and the integration of nature into transition plans. For Australian companies, moving first offers a competitive advantage: lower financing costs, investor preference, and more resilient supply chains.

Australia Insights: ASRS Readiness Analysis
Canbury is pleased to release a report analysing the readiness of Australian financial institutions for the recently introduced Australian Sustainability Reporting Standards (ASRS). The ASRS offers a framework for transparency, and aligning risk, strategy, and long-term value in a changing economy.
This report provides the first comprehensive benchmark of industry preparation. Encouragingly we found that overall, the foundations of climate reporting are in place. However, what is often missing is the level of detail now required under the new standards.
