TCFD Insights
In advance of mandatory climate reporting under California’s SB-261, we are pleased to release our report assessing the existing climate disclosures of the Russell 1000 constituents against Task Force for Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) recommendations.
Across the Russell 1000, our analysis reveals consistent gaps in TCFD alignment, with companies meeting 45% of the recommended disclosure requirements on average. The report also highlights notable variations in disclosure practices based on company size and sector.
However, a deeper examination of the results indicates that companies often have foundational elements of TCFD-aligned reporting in place, meaning there are opportunities to build on these to meet mandatory requirements by the end of 2025.
