Canbury Conversations: U.S. Sustainable Policy Landscape with Satyam Khanna

Join Satyam Khanna and Canbury’s Will Martindale in discussion of the U.S. sustainable policy landscape, Monday 10th June, 3pm BST. The discussion will include topics such as the U.S. SEC ESG regulations, the Inflation Reduction Act, the dynamics of the U.S. election, and the anti-ESG movement.

Satyam Khanna most recently served as a Biden Administration appointee and a lead architect of the U.S. Inflation Reduction Act’s Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency—playing a pivotal role in designing the first-of-its kind climate finance program, which will mobilise financing for tens of thousands of clean energy projects across America.

Additionally, Satyam served on the Biden-Harris Presidential Transition on the financial regulators’ review team. Satyam was Chief of Staff and Counsel to SEC Commissioner Robert Jackson and, earlier, a civil servant at the U.S. Treasury Department’s Financial Stability Oversight Council, which identifies threats to U.S. financial stability.

In 2021, Satyam was appointed as the U.S. SEC’s Senior Policy Advisor for Climate & ESG, the agency’s first-ever official dedicated to integrating sustainability risk considerations into the securities laws, where he led the release of several pathbreaking policies that significantly enhanced accountability and transparency in the U.S. sustainability market.

Satyam is the President of Khanna Economic Strategies, a sustainability consulting firm.

We provide our clients with a full service of sustainability support – from source data through to client reporting. We pride ourselves on offering bespoke and tailored advice to our clients. Here is a selection of insights that underpin our advice.

Trip to the Boreal Forest

It was a spring without voices. On the mornings that once throbbed with the dawn chorus of robins, catbirds, doves, jays, wrens, and scores of other bird voices there was now no sound; only silence lay over the fields and woods and marsh.” – Rachel Carson, Silent Spring.
